St. Catharines, Friday, October 14th, 2022 – To celebrate World Egg Day, Egg Farmers of Ontario (EFO) will be visiting DSBN Academy in St. Catharines on Friday October 14th at 7:30 a.m. EFO will be presenting a cheque for $75,000 to Student Nutrition Ontario (SNO): the final installment of their $225,000 three-year commitment to Student Nutrition Programs across the Province. Thanks to EFO’s generous support, hungry students across Ontario will have access to nourishing meals this school year.
“As egg farmers, we understand the importance of nutritious food and its impact on student success,” said EFO Chair Scott Helps. “We recognize that support for Student Nutrition Programs is more important than ever to ensure Ontario students have the means to access healthy, high-quality food.”
Food costs are rising, and many families are struggling to keep food on the table. Each school day, around one-million children in Ontario, age 3 to 18, access nourishing food through Student Nutrition Programs (SNPs). As SNPs face rising program costs, as well as heightened need, EFO’s support has a big impact and helps keep hungry tummies fed.
“One in six households are struggling with food insecurity in Ontario.”, says Catherine Parsonage, Student Nutrition Ontario Chair. “Thousands of hungry children across Ontario rely on Student Nutrition Programs each school day. Support from great partners like Egg Farmers of Ontario helps ensure children have access to nourishing food, no matter the circumstances.”
